Welcome to Delta Phi Epsilon

A letter from the president:

Hello everyone!

My name is Abbie Steinhart, and I am the current President of the Delta Delta Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. I'm a junior studying exercise science, with a hopeful future in pediatric occupational therapy!

Now that you know a little bit about me as a person, I'd like to tell you about my journey finding Delta Phi Epsilon. As a freshman, I didn't make many friends my first semester. It was the year after covid took over many parts of life, so there were still some lingering effects. I joined DPhiE in January of 2022, after a mostly virtual recruitment. I was very nervous to start something new, especially joining a sorority with all new people.

The next semester I ended up being elected the positions of Recreational Sports Coordinator and Sustainability Coordinator. I loved these positions because they allowed to me to interact with two things I love, and connect them with members of our chapter.

I have met the most amazing people, my best friends, through DPhiE. I can confidently say that these are my friend for life. Delta Phi Epsilon has changed me into a person with more confidence in myself, and who is more accepting of myself.

I never imagined I would be in this position. If you would have told me last summer that I would run for president, I would not have believed you. I am so glad that I took that jump and tried something that I couldn't have dreamed of doing a year ago. My advice for anyone that relates to this is to go with your gut, and take a step out of your comfort zone. You never know the opportunities that will present themselves when you do!
