On March 17, 1917, five women at New York University Law School founded the Alpha chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority, one of the first non-sectarian social sororities, and the only social sorority founded at a professional school. When doing so, they took a pledge of justice, sisterhood, and love. These three principles continue to be upheld and carried out by more than 55,000 members across the country.
